The wealthiest town in the whole Canary Islands

Recently released data from the Tax Agency highlights Saint Brigid as the most prosperous municipality in the Canary Islands, boasting an impressive average annual gross income of 37,735 euros. This places the Gran Canaria town well above the regional average, which is known for having one of the lowest incomes in the entire country.

Based on Tax on Personal Income Tax (IRPF) payer statistics in municipalities with over 1,000 inhabitants, Saint Brigid on the Gran Canaria island, retains its top position among Canarian towns with the highest average gross income per person. Despite a slight decrease from the previous year, the residents still enjoy a significantly high average income in the region, with 8,428 individuals filing their tax returns in this municipality.

These figures stand in contrast to data from other Spanish municipalities, such as Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid) with an average income of 80,244 euros, and Matadepera (Barcelona) with 69,511 euros. These disparities underscore the economic variations across the Spanish territory.

Despite the national comparison, Santa Brígida continues to maintain a prominent position in the Canary Islands, surpassing the 30,000 euros mark. Only one other town in the archipelago achieves this level: El Rosario in Tenerife, with an average income of 33,529 euros.

Regarding the Canarian capitals, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria holds the second position with an average declared income of 29,269 euros from its 180,419 taxpayers, followed by Santa Cruz de Tenerife in third place with an average income of 28,662 euros declared by 100,150 taxpayers.
