La Laguna City Council, through the Local Development Area, is promoting ten free courses for unemployed individuals in the municipality. The new training program scheduled for February 2024 is aimed at providing skills which are currently in demand by companies and businesses in the recruitment of their workers. This initiative has been announced by the councilor responsible for the Department, Domingo Galvan.
Galván emphasized that the methodology is thoroughly designed to activate basic skills in various professional fields, such as proficiency in computer tools, English, administrative procedures, assistance to dependent individuals, socio-cultural and sports animation, and other services. The practical approach of the contents is focused on enhancing employability skills.
The course offerings will commence in the second half of February and span until the end of March, with a total of 410 hours of training in different specialties aimed at opening up new job opportunities. Galván stated that this reflects their commitment to the social reinforcement and economic recovery of La Laguna families.
The planned call includes courses such as Computer literacy, starting from February 19 to March 8 (60 hours); Elementary level English, from February 19 to March 15 (100 hours); Ramp operator, from February 26 to March 1 (20 hours) and Supermarket stocking, from February 26 to March 1 (20 hours). These courses will be conducted face-to-face.
Additionally, a blended course on Maintenance and rehabilitation of dependent individuals at home (80 hours) is scheduled to take place from February 26 to March 21. Furthermore, the training agenda includes 5 online courses on subjects like Analysis of Accounting (50 hours), Administrative Management of tourist accommodations (20 hours), Socio-cultural and sports monitoring (20 hours), Childhood disorders and ADHD (20 hours), and Active job search (20 hours), scheduled between February 29 and March 29.
Interested individuals who are registered as job seekers in La Laguna can apply for these courses. The application submission period will remain open from Monday, January 29 to Sunday, February 4.
