Significant Modification on one of the Departure Routes in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

If you have attempted to depart from Santa Cruz of Tenerife by car towards the TF-5 highway, either to proceed on it towards the northern part of the island or to merge onto the TF-1 or take the exit towards the areas of Chamberí, Ofra, Somosierra or Los Gladiolos, you would have observed a significant change in the traffic: there is a solid line that prohibits those driving through the tunnel From Tres de Mayo, to switch to the right lane, which is the one leading to these detours (TF-1 and neighborhoods).

The extensive solid line commences from the gas station situated on the bend in front of the Acidalio Lorenzo swimming pool and is intended to compel all vehicles departing towards the TF-5 from Las Ramblas to stay in the right lane once on the highway, for a considerably long stretch.

This measure prevents any driver traveling through the tunnel from braking upon encountering all the vehicles arriving from Las Ramblas, who almost always, instead of continuing in their lane, diverted to the left, causing traffic congestion, deceleration, or direct obstruction. Nonetheless, the consequence of this measure is that those exiting the tunnel can no longer access the route towards the TF-1 or the neighborhoods, and must proceed towards other exits further ahead.

These modifications have caught many drivers off guard, as they were not communicated on social media by the City Council, the Cabildo, or the insular Highway Service.
