The municipality of Güímar will host this coming weekend the celebrations in honor of San Antonio Abad, with its traditional Pilgrimage on Sunday and which will begin its journey once the 12 o’clock Eucharist is over and after the blessing of livestock in the square. of Saint Peter.
To liven up this celebration, there will be the participation of rondallas and folk groups, the raised cross, the ribbon dance and the band of the Patronato Amigos del Arte Cultural Association, which will escort, along with the court of honor of the celebrations, to the image of the saint on his journey.
Around 2:30 p.m. it is expected to arrive at San Antonio Abad Street, where a dance will begin with soloists by Güímar and Pepe Benavente.
However, Sunday’s activities will begin very early with samples of native animal breeds and artisan crafts and foods, at 9 in the morning. An hour later, at 10, the San Pedro atrium will host the performance of the Tradiciones Jaira theater group, with a staging of a post-war Canarian dance; while the PFAE will carry out a representation of songs about milling and tomato plants, in San Pedro Square.
At the same time, the activity of the Farmer’s Market will also continue on Sundays with the aim of continuing to revitalize the primary sector of the municipality, in particular, and the region, in general.
Different events will also take place on Friday and Saturday.
