The Southwest district of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will have its first headquarters thanks to the purchase of a building in El Sobradillo. The property, which was occupied by the company Crea Hogar, is located at the intersection of Avenida de Los Majuelos and El Sobradillo road, has four floors, on an area of 600 square meters, and will cost the capital’s City Council 1.6 million of euros, as announced by the Councilor for Infrastructure and head of the aforementioned district, Javier Rivero.

The councilor explained that the amount allocated for the acquisition of this building, already included in the budget for 2024, will be included in the section of the City Council Headquarters Plan, and the idea is that the space will house the social work units, the office of citizen attention and information, the Tagoror and the future Youth House.

The Southwest district, Rivero specified, “is an area that has increased in inhabitants who do not have anything nearby to carry out activities or procedures, since this attention is currently provided in rented offices on Avenida de Los Majuelos.”

Regarding the district, the mayor highlighted the commitment to the Suroeste Avanza program, with an investment of more than eight million, in which “we have incorporated new credits to continue improving sports facilities, accessibility and paving streets.”
Likewise, he recalled that credits have already been committed for important investments, such as the new inclusive children’s area at Santa Catalina Park.

Regarding the Headquarters Plan, the mayor said that “a new contract, currently in bidding, will be approved, which will mean a gradual change in the improvement of administrative properties, schools and premises donated free of charge to neighborhood associations, seniors, cultural, sports and of the Carnival, working in a coordinated manner in the areas of Citizen Participation and Heritage.” He also recalled that after the summer the new community centers located in Valleseco, Nuevo Obrero and El Sobradillo will be launched, which will involve a change in management.
