La Laguna will have its Inclusive Carnival in the Plaza del Cristo

He La Laguna City Council will celebrate his Inclusive Carnival in the Plaza del Cristo, with the aim of giving the greatest possible dimension to an event that aims to give visibility to the reality of people with some type of disability, and make them fully participate in a day of festivity and celebration.

The event will take place on the morning of Friday, February 23, and the Social Welfare area, in collaboration with the Department of Culture, is already working on a program of a marked family nature in which the participation of groups plays a leading role.

The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, emphasizes that “La Laguna’s commitment to the full inclusion of people with any type of disability has been one of our main objectives in recent years, and has been recognized at the national level. and international. We want to continue supporting a municipality without barriers and the Inclusive Carnival is the best showcase to make visible the reality of these people, their families and the numerous associations and groups that work for full integration.”

The Councilor for Social Welfare, María Cruz, explains that the Inclusive Carnival, whose programming is being finalized these days together with the Department of Culture, directed by Leticia Villegas, will feature a large parade from the Plaza del Adelantado to the Plaza del Cristo through on Viana Street, musical performances, dance, revitalization activities, workshops, “and all kinds of initiatives that contribute, in a festive and carnival atmosphere, to making people with disabilities feel like full participants in the society in which they live. We believe that Plaza del Cristo is the most appropriate setting to hold an event of these characteristics, due to its spaciousness and accessibility, as has been demonstrated in the latest editions of the Inclusive Verbena.”

The event will also have an Orange Point to assist people with motor, sensory, intellectual or developmental disabilities, as well as Spanish sign language (SSL) interpreters, sensitive backpacks, accompaniment and all the information and attention necessary for fun. widespread.
