they fall in love with everything from their mojos to their wines

Reconnecting with the natural, with the essence, is the invitation that Baobab Suites to its clients, people who know how to enjoy life, from the simplest to the most elite, but who above all appreciate the naturalness, authenticity and greatness of the little things

This philosophy is transferred not only to the leisure experiences offered by the hotel, but also to the architecture, the care and protection of the natural environment in which it is located and, of course, to the food. The concept of the Kar Bon restaurantthe new Baobab Suites gastronomic space that has just opened its doors.

That’s why, the ember and the fire are its hallmarkselements that refer to tradition and the connection with the past, to a primitive spirit perhaps, but equally linked to tasty, healthy and natural food.

«For us, here in the Canary Islands, grilling is something very festive. We make a fire when we get together as a family or when you meet with a group of friends, or when you go to the mountains. And we wanted to make our gastronomy known from that point of view,” explains Juan Carlos Clemente, the person who devises and plans the Baobab Suites gastronomic line.

Zero kilometer products

In his letter the kilometer zero product stands out With style

Located in the same place where Fuel was before, but with a renovated aesthetic and space, it seeks to offer its clients, mainly the general public, but also guests of the hotel complex, a grilled culinary experience whose concept represents a style of cooking of market, which use kilometer 0 products —its suppliers are small local producers— and whose intention is to publicize Canarian gastronomy. At the controls of the kitchen is chef Máximo Concepción.

For the chef of Kar Bon, «the kitchen is the home, the fire lit, the table set, the cauldrons on the fire, the family or friendly gathering, the after-dinner meal and the welcome»concepts that fit perfectly with the concept of the new Baobab Suites restaurant.

The usual product but innovating

Local vegetables to guarantee quality With style

The local gastronomic character focuses on the Canarian product but prepared in a different way. Being an island surrounded by sea, fish plays a prominent role, from the simplest, such as mackerel or sardine, to the wide range of tunas.

But vegetables will also be present, which offer nuances and particularities that are very different from those on the peninsula due to the volcanic soil in which they are grown. «We weave small nuances of what the popular recipe book is, but updated»explains Clemente.

«There are traditional recipes like mojo, which we then version in different formats, such as a boiled mojo; or different products that we are able to update so that people eat them in a slightly different context. Canarian wine will also have a prominent place among the wines offered by the hotel complex’s wine cellar.

Variety of local wines

The wine list, Baobab Suites explains, is faithful to the hotel’s philosophy and an extension of its manifesto and values. “Our commitment is to local wines and an easy-drinking cut of wine,” they comment.

«From a portfolio of about 80 or 100 references that the letter will have, 40 or 50% will be local wine or from the Canary Islands, which is also a great unknown for tourists,” corroborates Juan Carlos Clemente.

Kar Bon It stands out from its competition by being a corner of authenticity from which the diner is invited to be part of an experience that challenges the convention of grilling. And he does enhancing the natural flavors of the fresh and local product with the intention of making the customer fall in love and make them want to return to eat well and always try something different and original, authentic.
