SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A man in his 60s has died after suffering a paragliding accident and falling into the sea at the Garachico dock, on the island of Tenerife, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
The event occurred yesterday, Friday, around 4:35 p.m., when the 1-1-2 operational room received an alert in which they reported that some bathers together with a nurse who was at the scene of the incident were rescuing a paraglider who had fallen into the sea.
After his rescue, the first responders verified that the victim was in cardiorespiratory arrest, so resuscitation maneuvers began until the arrival of health personnel.
Given the seriousness of the incident, the SUC health coordinator on duty in the 1-1-2 emergency room activated the team from the area’s Health Center, which came together with a basic life support ambulance from the SUC to assist the affected. Despite basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, the victim died.
Agents from the Local Police also went to the scene of the event, who collaborated with the intervening services, and from the Civil Guard, who were in charge of carrying out the corresponding procedures.
