SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, January 19. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The School Council of the Canary Islands has defended this Friday the need to regulate the use of mobile phones in the classrooms of the islands by educational levels and according to needs but opposes an “absolute ban.”

In a report requested by the Department of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, collected by Europa Press, it is understood that the age and maturity of the students, as well as “particular personal situations”, may advise the use of the telephone during school hours.

Along these lines, he states that taking into account that “abusive use” occurs in secondary education, regulation must be established “equally” at all levels.

The Council also proposes to “strengthen” the capacity of centers to develop good practice and digital competence plans that guarantee the “insertion” of students into the digital society based on “responsible consumption” and “critical use” of the media. digital.

To this end, it is necessary for the Ministry of Education to provide the centers with technological means for “exclusively pedagogical” use and for it to be supervised by the center, and also with advisory resources in case of “distractions, risk situations and conflicts”.

It also proposes providing centers with storage structures for the safekeeping of telephones and their delivery at the end of the school day.
