SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, January 17 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo of Tenerife invests 867,105.62 euros in the first phase of the project to implement renewable energies (photovoltaic generators) in the Balsas de Tenerife (Balten) facilities, and more specifically in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife pumping station, the El Tablero drive reservoir, and the reservoirs of Valle San Lorenzo and Isla Baja.

The Minister of the Primary Sector, Valentín González, points out in a note that these actions are part of the Energy Rebalancing Plan that the Tenerife Council will develop until 2030 with a total budget that will exceed 7.5 million euros.

In this first phase, which is about to conclude, action has been taken in four of the Balten facilities with the highest consumption.

Regarding the execution of this plan, González anticipates that “the actions in Santa Cruz and El Tablero concluded this summer, while Valle San Lorenzo and Isla Baja will conclude, predictably, at the end of next February.”

Valentín González also highlights that this action allows the Cabildo to align “with the sustainable development objectives, but also reduce costs, which will result in a more efficient irrigation water supply service.”

The Primary Sector counselor emphasizes that the island Government will continue to “promote measures that contribute to improving irrigation water levels and storage infrastructure, with the intention of obtaining increasingly better performance.”

The objective is to prepare the island “for the warmest months of the year and working proactively to respond in an agile and efficient manner to the needs that may arise due to the possibility that the levels of rain will have an impact on the water crisis that It already affected us last year,” he points out.
