SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct 30 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de La Palma, through the Social Action area, has allocated this year more than half a million euros for social emergency aid that has already been paid to the 14 town councils of the island.

The area counselor, Nieves Hernández, explained that this item has increased in recent years, because when they came to the Government the investment was 300,000 euros, later it was increased to 350,000 euros and this year it has increased to 500,000 euros, “the largest in history.”

According to Nieves Hernández, “we thus continue with the commitment marked by this government team, in which the first thing is people and their well-being, and we demonstrate our sensitivity and support to all the island’s municipalities, so that with this tool they can continue attending to the social emergencies of its municipalities “.

The counselor also clarified that the aid to the three municipalities affected by the eruption of the volcano “is being key to giving an immediate response to the victims, and that they are being invested mainly in the payment of bonds and housing rentals, purchases of equipment and basic necessities, and in fuel “.

In addition, he added that there will be an expansion for these three municipalities of 200,000 euros soon, “a decision that has been taken after being in permanent contact with their Social Action councilors and studying the needs of the families affected by the eruption.” In relation to the rest of the municipalities, he advanced that applications will be made between now and the end of the year.

He also confirmed that care is being offered to 50 dependents who have been evicted and who did not have alternative accommodation resources, “which are being perfectly cared for in the different centers of the Insular network.”

Finally, Hernández recalled the importance of all administrations “continuing to work together for the recovery of the Island, and to continue to be stronger than the volcano.”
