For the operation, the Guardamar Urania and the Helimer 204 helicopter were mobilized, which carried out the rescue of the boat at 11:30 p.m. when it was 28 kilometers west of Agaete, in Gran Canaria, accompanied by the ‘Mein Schiff’ .

The occupants of the cayuco were transferred to the Los Llanos dock in the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where they disembarked at 1:25 a.m. this Saturday, Maritime Rescue sources have stated.

There were 64 men of sub-Saharan origin on the boat and, as reported by the Emergency and Rescue Coordination Center 112, one of them received assistance in the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and four others were taken to the hospital.

In addition, the Civil Guard’s SIVE echo has detected another vessel 8.6 miles south of Punta Rasca in Tenerife, where the Salvamar Alpheratz has headed, which has located and escorted the cayuco to the port of Los Cristianos.

The boat arrived at the aforementioned port at 8:05 a.m. this Saturday and 94 people (86 men, 3 women and 5 male minors) of sub-Saharan origin disembarked, according to Maritime Rescue.
