Copernicus has updated the monitoring of the Cumbre Vieja volcano area (La Palma), whose lava has covered a total of 946.5 hectares since the eruption began on September 19, affecting or destroying 2,532 buildings / constructions so far.

This is clear from the satellite data of the program dependent on the European Union according to the last mapping – number 37 – corresponding to the situation that existed at 08:08 on Friday, October 30.

According to the latest Copernicus satellite balance, the total area affected by lava has increased by 5 hectares compared to the previous 12 hours, while the buildings / constructions destroyed represent 13 more than the last registered figure.

The Copernicus program, coordinated through the National Center for Monitoring and Coordination of Emergencies (CENEM), has devices for the monitoring and follow-up of national alert networks, potential risk situations, incidents and emergencies in the field of civil protection.
