SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Tenerife have agreed this Thursday to prioritize the execution of the third lane of the TF-5, between Guamasa and Los Rodeos airport, to alleviate traffic and improve mobility between the north of the island and the metropolitan area.

This is what the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Francisco González, told journalists after the third meeting of the mobility commission promoted by the Cabildo, insisting on the Executive’s “commitment” to carrying out investments, which will be made “yes or yes.” “They take more or less time to execute.

He has indicated that the third rail project is a “priority” after having been rejected by the previous regional government, stressing that “nothing is going to stop” except that we have to wait for the pertinent administrative steps.

The president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, has valued the support of economic and social agents to do their “grain of sand” in improving mobility, for example with the removal of heavy vehicles from companies early in the morning, agreement signed with Ashotel to transfer workers or the agreement with the University of La Laguna to modify schedules and open an application to promote the use of car sharing.

He has announced that in the first quarter of the year the agreement will be signed with the Government of the Canary Islands to be able to carry out works even if they are not within its competence and this includes an item of up to 30 million euros to improve nine links on the two highways of the island.

Dávila has indicated that in the coming weeks the report, prepared by the General Directorate of Labor, will be made public, which shows that the closure of the TF-5 near Guamasa was a “good and positive” solution that requires to undertake some alternatives so that all those affected feel “comfortable.”
