SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The spokesperson for the Government of the Canary Islands, Alfonso Cabello, demanded this Thursday an “urgent” meeting of the sectoral migration conference to clarify the agreement reached this Wednesday between the central government and Junts on immigration powers.

In a press conference to report on the agreements of the Government Council, he showed the Executive’s “concern” about the “bilateral” agreement reached in Congress and therefore they hope to know “the fine print” given that it is “fundamental” to know What type of agreements are reached with the autonomous communities.

Cabello has criticized that they have “no information” about this agreement and has defended that the sectoral level “is where it is time” to address agreements of this type because a negotiation between the Government and a political party cannot “condemn” the Canary Islands.

Along these lines, he has pointed out that in the face of immigration there must be a “unitary response” from the State and the EU because a two-party agreement can alter the possible distribution of unaccompanied migrant minors or the “how they are cared for” depending on who they are. autonomous community is reached.

He has pointed out that immigration in the Canary Islands “is a drama”, with the arrival of 40,000 people last year and more than 6,000 deaths, according to data from the NGO Caminando Fronteras, hence it is a “state priority”.

Cabello has appreciated that the Minister of Social Rights, Candelaria Delgado, is going to meet this Friday with the Minister of Children and Youth, Sira Rego, after several unsuccessful attempts with her predecessor, Ione Belarra, and has announced that next week she will refer to the Central Government the proposal for legislative modification so that the reception and distribution of migrant minors is not jointly responsible but jointly responsible between autonomous communities.

Along these lines, he has pointed out that the text will be sent to the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, given that the modification affects several departments, while at the same time he has assessed that after six months of work he has “become aware” that the reception of unaccompanied minors is a “state matter”, the same as the “single command” through the inter-ministerial commission that the Minister of Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres, will direct.
