SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife will promote a plan to modernize the Technical Service of Agriculture and Rural Development, which includes the Agrarian Extension Agencies, which are located in the north, the south and the metropolitan area, the Experimental Farms Unit, the Island Office del Regante, the Agricultural Experimentation and Technical Assistance Unit, and the Center for the Conservation of Agricultural Biodiversity of Tenerife (CCBAT).
In these units, different tasks are carried out, such as the management of the island institution’s own farms, agricultural extension work and experimentation, and they provide training and advice to farmers, among other issues.
The counselor of the Primary Sector, Valentín González, explains in this regard in a note that the objective pursued focuses on improving the existing infrastructures and providing them with more material and human resources, to optimize the provision of the service to users.
González points out that in principle they are developing a proposal for technological modernization that allows “better performance of resources, to later begin a process that involves more human resources destined to develop tasks in the Agrarian Extension Agencies, but also in other infrastructures. that depend on the Primary Sector area, such as the Own Farms Unit, the CCBAT or the Irrigator’s Office”.
In addition, work is being done on the new image of ‘Agrocabildo’ as a platform for technology transfer and agricultural training on the island of Tenerife.
For the Primary Sector counselor, this initiative “is part of the program of actions that is planned to be launched during this mandate, which aims to strengthen the island’s primary sector, valuing it as a fundamental economic area for the economic development of Tenerife”.
In this context, Valentín González highlights “the importance of making the best tools available to producers so that they can maintain their farms and make them, every day, more competitive.”
