What holidays are there in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival in 2024?

Of the holidays planned in the Autonomous Community, eleven are defined as non-working days on all islands for labor purposes, paid and non-recoverable. They are the following:

  • January 1
  • January 6th
  • 28th March
  • March 29
  • May 1
  • May 30
  • August 15th
  • October 12 °
  • November 1st
  • 6th of December
  • December 25th

They must add one more holiday for each islandwhich in the case of Tenerife It will be next February 2, coinciding with the celebration of the Virgin of Candelaria.

But also to these festivities two more are added in each municipality, selected by each of the town councils. Therefore, each town in the Archipelago will ultimately have 14 festivities.

With this distribution, the Canary Islands work calendar allows Santa Cruz de Tenerife to have two holidays in full Carnival program of the capital, which starts on January 12 with the presentation of the candidates for the three types of queen (children, adults and seniors) and which concludes on February 17 with Piñata Sunday.

The first of the holidays of those five weeks coincides with a relevant event within the program planned by the Autonomous Body of Festivals and Recreational Activities (OAFAR) of the capital City Council. It will be on February 2, the day in which the Laughter Song contest is organized, with the participation of seven groups.

But also, for those who are not carnival-goers, the island festival of the Virgin of Candelaria offers the first bridge of the year in Tenerife when it falls on a Friday.

The other holiday is one of the classics of the calendar, on Carnival Tuesday, day that allows the celebration of one of the great dances during the night of Monday in the center of the city and that in 2024 will be on February 13.

Furthermore, for that day the celebration of Coso Apotheosis Of the carnival with the participation of groups, characters, queens and floats on Francisco La Roche and Marítima Avenues.

It is also a holiday that has also been chosen by other municipalities on the Island, such as Puerto de la Cruz.
