The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council informs that the remodeling and expansion work of the Buenos Aires Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) will enter a new phase starting next Monday, January 15. This progress in the work dependent on the Ministry of Ecological Transition will affect traffic on Manuel Hermoso Rojas Avenue, in the direction of the Santa Cruz exit, which will require changes and detours to guarantee circulation.

The work consists of the installation of two drive pipes that will serve to link the Cabo Llanos Wastewater Pumping Station (EBAR) with the Buenos Aires WWTP. The first section, which affects Avenida Manuel Hermoso Rojas, is the one between the TF-5 highway towards Álvaro Rodríguez López Street to the intersection of Clara Campoamor Street. This action is expected to last one month.

The Councilor for Mobility, Evelyn Alonso, explains that “from all areas of the Consistory and from the five districts, information will be provided and communication will be reinforced about the changes that will occur in traffic due to these works, as well as any unexpected incidents that may arise.”

For her part, the councilor of the Salud-La Salle district, Zaida González, calls for the “collaboration of all citizens to communicate these temporary changes in traffic motivated by the start of this work that will affect one of the main arteries. of access to the city.”

Conditions in road traffic

In this first phase of the works, they will cause a strangulation of the two lanes that distribute the traffic entering Santa Cruz from the TF-5 towards Álvaro Rodríguez López Street, so the upward direction of Manuel Hermoso Rojas Avenue will be eliminated. from Clara Campoamor Street to the intersection with the TF-5 access lanes and to Álvaro Rodríguez López Street.

Clara Campoamor Street will have a single direction of circulation, the ascending one, and the section of Álvaro Rodríguez López Street included between Clara Campoamor Street and the access to TF-5, will have a single direction of circulation, contrary to the usual one. to facilitate access to the first ascending section of Manuel Hermoso Rojas Avenue, towards Tres de Mayo Avenue.

Reorganization of circulation

Vehicles coming from the constriction of the eliminated lanes of the TF-5 will be facilitated to join the descending lanes of Manuel Hermoso Rojas Avenue. In addition, traffic on the TF-5 heading to Álvaro Rodríguez López Street will be able to access it through Clara Campoamor Street, which is enabled for a single direction of traffic.

Vehicles coming from the descending and ascending directions of Manuel Hermoso Rojas Avenue, past the intersection with the access to the TF-5 highway, and that could change direction at Clara Campoamor Street, will now do so through this last route towards Álvaro Rodríguez López street.

It should be noted that the usual entrances and exits of the Meridiano Shopping Center remain operational and that temporary construction traffic lights will be enabled to regulate and coordinate traffic.

The second phase will affect the intersection of Clara Campoamor and Manuel Hermoso Rojas streets to the entrance of the Meridiano shopping center. The third phase will cause changes in the uphill lanes of Manuel Hermoso Rojas, from Alcalde Jose Emilio García Gómez Street to the entrance of the Meridiano Shopping Center. As the start dates of these other two phases approach, information will be provided on them.
