He new health center of Llano del Camellowhich will serve a population of more than 8,000 inhabitants who reside in this nucleus of San Miguel de Abona, Las Chafiras, Golf del Sur, Amarilla Golf and San Blas, will finally begin to provide service “between January and February,” according to what it stated. yesterday to DIARIO DE AVISOS the mayor of San Miguel, Arturo González.
The works began in February 2019 after being awarded for a completion period of 17 months to the company Proyecon Galicia SA (the same construction company that built the IES Parque La Reina and the CIPF of Adeje), which requested a modification of the project, which meant, in turn, a variation of the initial budget of the work (1,818,898 euros), financed 85% by the European Regional Development Fund.

“The forecast is that, if it is not this month of January, then in February the commissioning will proceed, once the issue of the electrical connection and the necessary equipment has been resolved,” explained Arturo González, who described the opening of the facilities as “good news” and “almost a gift from Three Kings.” “The works have suffered a significant delay and it is a health center that has been in high demand for years by the population, especially on the coast of the municipality, so it will be very satisfactory to start the year with the facilities in operation and with the necessary personnel,” indicated the councilor.

Furthermore, he stressed that the work was awarded during Fernando Clavijo’s first term as head of the Government of the Canary Islands and, five years later, the inauguration will be his responsibility. The residents of the lower area of San Miguel have been receiving health care for “too long,” in the words of the mayor, in temporary facilities in the Farmer’s Market that do not meet the appropriate conditions as they have become small and obsolete.

The new health resource, which occupies a 3,700 square meter plot donated by the City Council on Lucio Díaz Flores Avenue, will have four family medicine consultations and the same number of nursing offices, two for pediatrics and two for children’s nursing, with a wait and groom.

In addition, it will have a breastfeeding room, an emergency area with a cardiopulmonary resuscitation room, a treatment and sample collection room, as well as a women’s care area with a midwife consultation and a maternal education space.
