The Cabildo of Tenerife increases by 631,671.85 euros the contribution to the agreement with the Candelaria City Council for the execution of the Barranco Hondo social health center, after both administrations have formalized the modification of the agreement.
The Minister of Social Action, Águeda Fumero, the mayor of the municipality, Mari Brito, and the Councilor for Social Services, Olivia Pérez, recently visited the place where this center will be built, “which will be a reality thanks to collaboration and joint work of the Cabildo and the City Council of Candelaria and the signing of the addendum with the Government of the Canary Islands”.
The increase in the budget of this project reflects a price update, as well as the inclusion of new services, such as medicinal gases, which improve the original initiative, and will involve a total investment of 5,606,948.64 euros.
The future social health center of Barranco Hondo will have 42 new residential places and 20 day center places, according to a note from the corporation.
The Minister of Social Action, Águeda Fumero, assured that “it is a very important step” in fulfilling the “commitment” of the Cabildo to provide more social and health care places on the island of Tenerife, in response to the demands of society, which He added that “to achieve this objective, the role of the city councils is also fundamental, with whom it is intended to establish a line of work based on dialogue and permanent coordination.”
From this dialogue, he continues, “the demands that the Cabildo will defend will arise in the preparation of the next Socio-Health Infrastructure Plan of the Government of the Canary Islands.”
The counselor concluded by saying that they “firmly” believe in the need for a revolution to occur in the field of social management that allows, through networking, “to make better services available to citizens.”
The mayor of Candelaria, Mari Brito, assured that continuing to advance to build the socio-health center in Barranco Hondo “fills the City Council with joy” because they have been betting on this very necessary service for “many years.”
“After signing the addendum, we are already preparing to begin the bidding procedures at the beginning of 2024. This project represents our commitment to the well-being of our elderly and the improvement of care services in our region,” he says.
Brito also highlighted that “the expansion of places for the care of the elderly is a significant step towards a more inclusive community that is attentive to the needs of those who have contributed so much.”
This center, he indicates, “will be a space of quality and warmth, offering specialized care and an enriching environment for our loved ones. We continue to move forward with determination towards this goal, working to provide a place where dignity and care are a priority.”
The mayor appreciates the “fundamental support” of the Cabildo and the Institute of Social and Socio-Sanitary Care of Tenerife (IASS).
