Today, Friday, the Tenerife Cabildo definitively approved the budget for 2024, which reaches the record figure of 1,041 million euros, which represents an increase of 9.9% compared to the previous year.
During the plenary session held today, the allegations presented to the document were rejected without any vote against, thus all the procedures have been passed so that it can be effective.
Social Action is the area that has the most resources, with a total of 271.8 million euros, which represents 26.1% of the total budget. The Institute of Social and Socio-Health Care experiences a notable increase in its resources by more than 17 million euros, reaching 278 million.
The actions will focus on the creation of more social and health care places in Garachico, La Matanza and the La Cuesta Care Center for the Mentally Handicapped (CAMP), in addition to new projects in Arona and Vilaflor; improvement works in own centers; Insular Plan for Social Policies and insular ring of social services.
The increase in financial allocations for the Gender Violence Units stands out, the emergency devices and accommodation resources go from 1.9 to 2.4 million euros: The resources allocated to the Offices of Attention to Victims of Violence are also increased Gender with the opening of two resources in the regions of Abona and La Orotava and the launch of a resource for the prevention of gender violence in the rural world.
In terms of equality and prevention of gender violence, the financial allocation increases by 3.1% compared to the previous budget. In this section, the Dependency area stands out, for which the items have been increased by 8.3 million euros. Likewise, we are committed to promoting actions within the LGTBIQ+ framework and Program to prevent and detect violence among young people.
Mobility will have 220.5 million of which a total of 127.5 euros will be managed by Mobility and 93 million will be for the Roads area. In addition, 400,000 euros are allocated to promote public transport and the beginning of the expansion of the tram network; acquisition of 247 new buses, of which 147 are already for delivery; paving TF1 and other roads and 3.2 million for the Anchieta footbridge.
In the area of Employment, Education and Youth, an increase of 22.3% is contemplated, which represents a total of 5.6 million to cover the daycare check and the scholarship policy, which increase by 16%. These items include programs for the prevention of mental health disorders; youth activities in the municipalities, Neighborhoods for Employment and the Tenerife Fashion Strategic Plan 2024-2027, among other projects.
The Innovation, Research and Development area grows by 3.5% and a boost to the Science and Technology Park is contemplated; E-sports Center in Barranco de Santos and improvement of agreements with the ULL, CSIC and IAC through the creation of more scholarships and more projects.
OTHER AREAS.
The budget of the Natural Environment and Primary Sector area includes 14 million euros for activities related to environmental recovery and infrastructure after the fire, to which must be added the 5 million executed urgently in 2023 and which will continue in the following years. next years. In this way, the primary sector will have 2.5 million for aid. In addition, actions are contemplated in animal welfare policies and construction of the La Laguna Farmer’s Market.
Administration, Territorial Planning and Historical Heritage has 52.3 million euros and includes actions such as digital transformation; 4.6 million for the Plaza de la Basílica de Candelaria; regionalization of the Cabildo offices in the north and south to reduce mobility.
Likewise, 1.1 million euros are allocated to promote the Port of Puerto de la Cruz; the City of cinema; the Puerto Granadilla Hydrogen plant and Underwater Gardens, and the island government contemplates an increase of 34.5% in the Tourism area, which represents more than 11.5 million that will be invested in the recovery of infrastructure; opening of new tourist markets; promoting large international events and undertaking the insular part of the rehabilitation works of the Taoro Hotel with a budget of 7.3 million euros.
In Industry and Commerce, actions are contemplated in the Güímar and La Campana Industrial Estates; Subsidy line; recovery open commercial areas; more items for commerce and companies.
Within the Culture area there are actions such as the Annual Artistic Plan: Museums, Auditorium, music band aid, municipal music schools and library network. And the Sports budget includes investment in the improvement of sports infrastructure such as the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium and the Santiago Martín Pavilion. Likewise, the lines of subsidies are increasing, especially those dedicated to indigenous sports.
Finally, with respect to Municipal Cooperation and Housing, the housing item grows by 28.5% to achieve greater availability of land for the construction of public housing and promote a parking plan in historic centers.
