The Minister of Management of Natural Environment and Security, Isabel García (PSOE), has held a meeting with residents of the village, in which the mayor of Buenavista del Norte, Antonio González (SSP) was also present. At this meeting, it was explained that the opening of the visitor center “will also serve to reorder the influx of people interested in this enclave.” The Cabildo reports that residents “showed their concerns and needs, emphasizing the traffic problem and the need for the presence of a Local Police officer in the area, to alleviate and control the parking problem.”
«We are before another of the milestones that from the Cabildo de Tenerife we proposed for this protected area. The route through the ravine has been open for a few months now, and the satisfaction among visitors is very high “, according to the councilor Isabel García, who added that” with this new step we contribute to invigorate the village and offer another possibility to the visitors who arrive there every day ».
«The Visitor Center is an obligatory step for walkers who want to explore the ravine, but it also offers a wide range of complementary services for all visitors, such as information on the Teno Rural Park and its network of trails; about what to see and do in the nucleus of Masca, or the alternative routes to the ravine path “, concluded the minister.
«The improvement of the jetty, which the Cabildo de Tenerife has already put out to tender, will expand the possibilities in the active tourism sector. In addition, it will allow the work of companies that travel by sea from Masca to the south of the island to resume ”, said the minister. The adaptation and improvement of the jetty contemplates its extension to an area of 114 square meters, starting from the existing rock, with a vertical concrete facing, as well as the expansion of the rocky platform using precast concrete pieces. In addition, the current walkway will be demolished, which will be replaced by one with a light structure.
