The capital City Council has only granted permission for the celebration of a large private New Year’s Eve party in the municipality, specifically at the back of the Tenerife Auditorium. An event, organized by Farra World, from 00:30 to 07:00, and whose tickets are almost sold out. Likewise, it has authorized almost 30 nightlife venues in the capital, which have the corresponding license, to extend their usual closure by an hour and a half during this celebration, upon request, proper ownership and payment of a fee. of 131, 20 euros.
Regarding the Univerzzo events scheduled for January 31 and 5 in the Dubai nightclub, located in the Mayorazgo area, and where last Christmas Eve hundreds of people had to be evacuated due to exceeding the planned capacity, from the Urban Planning Management The permit has been denied and a disciplinary file has been initiated for the closure of the premises, as confirmed yesterday by the Councilor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife.
Despite this incident, from Urban Planning, an area headed by councilor Zaida González, an ordinance has been published so that nightlife venues in the capital can extend their closing hours whenever they coincide with local or popular festivals, and up to a total of five requests per year. In this case, for the current call that focuses on the holidays of December 31 and January 5, 2024, nearly 30 business requests have been registered to extend the closing time for the Christmas holidays.
According to the Urban Planning document, to which DIARIO DE AVISOS has had access, the majority correspond to bars-cafes with music and discos, as well as karaokes, which, depending on the activity regime, will have permitted closing hours for January 1 which range from 04:00 to 08:00 hours.
Likewise, it is contemplated, only for December 31, the authorization of after hours for nightclubs, dance halls and party rooms with shows that request it, which may be open until 1:00 p.m. on January 1, 2024 and as long as they meet the requirements and pay the corresponding fee. At the moment, there is a request for a bar on Avenida La Salle.
The resolution specifies that from the extended closing time, customers will be evacuated for a period of 30 minutes, after which the premises must be closed to the public. From then on, only dependent or contracted personnel of the company may remain there, in surveillance or cleaning functions. Likewise, as of the closure and during the eviction, the cessation of all commercial, recreational and musical activities must be maintained permanently.
A special extended closure regime is also established for tourist catering establishments located in the area with a large tourist influx of the municipality and located inside shopping centers, which may benefit from an additional hour and a half of opening for said holidays.
In this sense, discos, dance halls and party rooms with shows, whose usual closing time is 6:00 a.m., may remain open until 7:30 a.m. on the days established for the Christmas holidays and, until 8:00 a.m., in the case to be located in the center of Santa Cruz.
Meanwhile, concert halls, which close at 5:00 a.m., may do so at 6:30 a.m., and, in the case of café-theaters, café-concerts, and restaurant establishments with musical activity and karaoke, which close at 3:30 a.m. hours, they may remain open until 5:00 a.m. or half an hour later if they are in the center of the capital.
In the case of banquet halls, whose usual closing time is 4:00 a.m., it is extended until 5:30 a.m.; as well as for tourist catering establishments, with closing at 2:00 a.m., and which may open until 3:30 a.m. For restaurants, bars and cafes located in the downtown area, the hours are set until 04:00.
As for shopping centers, café-theaters, café-concerts or restaurants with musical activities, whose usual closing time is 4:00 a.m., may remain open until 5:30 a.m. If it is discotheques, dance halls and party rooms in shopping centers, which close at 6:00 a.m., it will be extended to 7:30 a.m.
Finally, the regulation contemplates, as an exceptional case for December 31, after hours in discos, dance halls and party rooms with shows that have the corresponding license. Businesses whose closing time is 6:00 a.m. and which, only for New Year’s Eve, may remain open until 1:00 p.m. on January 1, 2024.

Apart from the private parties that will be held to bid farewell to the last night of the year, the City Council has organized a free show in the Plaza de La Candelaria. The event will begin at 11:30 p.m. with performances by Renzzo El Selector; the Maracaibo orchestra, at 00:30 hours; The K-Narias, at 02:45 a.m.; the Revelation orchestra at 3:20 a.m.; and DJ Wes, at 5:35 a.m.
The sound of the twelve bells will be crowned with a pyrotechnic display, with low acoustic impact, organized by the City Council and the Port Authority.
