La Chasnera, Tenerife’s lucky gas station, achieves it again: Gordo and second

La Chasnera has done it again. For the eleventh consecutive year she has once again given out some of the big Christmas lottery prizes. Faithful to the quote, yesterday he distributed six loose tenths, for the fifth time, of the Gordo (88,080), two tenths of the second prize (58,303) and 66 of four fifth prizes (88,979, 92,023, 01,568 and 86,007), for a total of 3,046,000 euros, of the 8,884,000 that were distributed yesterday in the province of Tenerife.

The lucky pump, located at the gas station at kilometer 54 of the South Highway, in the municipality of Granadilla, did not fail in its date with fortune, once again becoming the cover of the main national media. His fame already crosses our borders, so much so that he has become one of the three lottery receivers that sell the most in Spain.

From very early on, the cafeteria and shop at the service station became a hive of people, including customers and journalists. Everyone was expectant in front of the television or in front of the Onda Tenerife announcement, once again hosting a longer day than usual as the presence of the Gordo and the second prize was made to be requested, while half of the fifth prizes fell at the gas station.

The wait for the big prizes became tense at times, but the joy had already arrived a couple of hours before with the joy expressed by the cafeteria waitresses. At 9:10 a.m., a scream from Dalia filled the space with happiness. They all left the coffee on the table and approached the bar when they saw her hugging Liria and her other colleagues. They had a tenth prize with the third fifth prize that had come out, the first in La Chasnera. “It is 6,000 euros, but less is nothing.”

Dressed as Santa Claus, Dalia clarified that “we play a lot of numbers in a group of almost 60 workers, but, even if it is 100 euros, no one takes away our joy,” she commented while continuing to serve customers with a huge smile. She was an omen that the awards that were going to continue coming.

Before 11 in the morning another three-fifths had already fallen at the station. Miriam González even cried about it, while her father José Miguel, president of the González Group that manages seven Repsol gas stations in Tenerife, did not despair: “El Gordo is still missing.”

The fourth and third players passed by, and more than one became impatient at the presence of a screwdriver fixing one of the draw drums. “Maybe they forgot about Gordo,” he heard himself say. But no, all the numbers and prizes were there.

But there were barely two boards left and we were already entering midday (Canary time). The second, the prize that La Chasnera has given the most times, visited her again. Again, hugs, kisses and some tears, but no time for more, because, as José Miguel insisted, “El Gordo is still missing.” And so it happened, thirteen minutes later. At 12:16 minutes, the latest and highest first prize in the history of the Christmas lottery appeared at the Teatro Real in Madrid. It was the final touch to another December 22 marked with fortune in La Chasnera.

José Ángel González, the manager of the service station, at the suggestion of Román Luis (Onda Tenerife), started with a Christmas carol, which was already the musical note until the cava was uncorked: “It rains and it rains and it rains again, the awards in Chasnera again and again.”

Gonzalez Family

José Miguel González and his three children, José Ángel, Miriam and Aarón, did not miss the appointment like every December 22 for 10 years. They are in charge of managing the La Chasnera, El Porís and El Volcán-Arafo receivers. “There are no words to describe how proud we are to make so many people happy,” said Miriam, always the most excited of all.

This time José Miguel did not cry, but it was clear that he was excited: “I had a feeling that the Gordo was going to fall, and when I saw so many 8s I was sure that we had sold that number.” “Normally we choose those rare numbers, with repeated numbers, to put on the display. It has already been proven that ugly or strange numbers also appear,” he indicated.

The González family, on this occasion, did not keep any of the winners. Numbers that were not known yesterday about their holders, who will surely appear at the gas station soon to express their gratitude and, incidentally, buy tickets for the El Niño raffle. If those winners have not traveled to the Peninsula or abroad, for example, to Andorra, from where this year there have been many requests.
