A total of 35 hotel establishments, associated with Ashotel in Tenerife and La Gomera, have participated this year in the initiative The first trippromoted by Excelencia Turística de Canarias, and which seeks to activate protection measures in the take-off of juvenile Cory’s shearwaters in the months of October and November on our islands.
The project, which has the collaboration of the Cabildo of Tenerife and the hotel employers’ association, has become an instrument that allows giving visibility to those tourist accommodation establishments that understand the concept of sustainability beyond energy efficiency or the reduction of the emissions.
Precisely, this initiative is aligned with Biodiversity Conservation, one of the lines of action of the Ashotel Sustainability Strategy. The marine and terrestrial ecosystems of our islands are the basis of the added value of our offer, so their conservation is a task in which the entire sector should make real commitments. In this sense, this line of action of the strategy proposes actions to raise awareness and involve both companies and tourists with conservation projects like this one.
