SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, stated this Wednesday that the corporation does not rule out “any avenue” to improve traffic and mobility on the island and therefore hopes that there will be participation of citizens and city councils in the island plan. of sustainable mobility found in public information.
In a press conference to report on the agreements of the Government Council, he indicated that we must wait for the process to end to be able to “set priorities” and evaluate which solutions “are the most feasible.”
The plan includes almost twenty actions until 2045 and works valued at around 5,000 million, but it does not “unilaterally” resolve the solution to mobility on the island but rather exposes a set of alternatives and projects, some of which are “historical” that emanate from the Cabildo itself. .
He has insisted that the document is not a “closed plan” but rather an “open” one, hence there is a long period of time for public administrations, citizens and groups to participate with contributions, beyond the fact that the philosophy of the plan involves making a “rational use” of the private vehicle and betting on the development of public transport.
The vice president of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso, has commented that “the only reprehensible thing about the plan is that it arrived so late” because decisions could have been made “earlier” but he has assured that it is a good tool to work from the “basic consensus” that there is to carry out pending works on roads and further promote public transport.
“We are not sitting still, we want to improve mobility on the island, reduce travel, opt for guided transportation and promote public works as soon as possible, which will not be delayed or wait for the plan, everything is promoted in parallel to the execution of the plan,” he explained.
