SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 19. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, asked this Tuesday the councils and city councils to have “courage” to develop the land law and organize consolidated urban land given that there is “fear” among officials of the “maelstrom” ” of complaints in which the political parties have entered.
In response to a question from the Popular Group in the control session of the Plenary of Parliament, he admitted that “among all” the political groups, a “cumbersome framework” has been generated in the public sector to the point that the emergency to care for migrant minors, allocate more electrical power or address the water situation of Fuerteventura and soon that of Lanzarote.
Along these lines, he has indicated that “it has been impossible to meet the deadlines” set by the administration itself and there are also “great difficulties” with the application of the contract law, but he has assured that now, after beginning to “put the house in order”, A commitment is made to reduce administrative processing by up to 30%.
Clavijo has lamented that an environmental impact declaration is late on average 22 months or up to 36 if there is an appeal and has not ignored the fact that if a project contains “a beetle or a snake, everything is paralyzed.”
Juan Manuel García Casañas (PP) has explained that due to the lack of administrative simplification, “investments are blocked” and although on the islands “there is talk of diversifying the economy, it can take up to ten years to materialize an investment” given that there is difficulty in obtaining licenses. .
“We have become accustomed to these times,” he commented, emphasizing that the ‘green island law’ is applied unevenly and there are “a multitude of paralyzed files” and municipal plans that make projects difficult.
For this reason, he has appealed to “work side by side” with institutions, businessmen and professional associations to complete the files that “are suffocating” the Canary Islands economy.
