The Cabildo of Tenerife promotes the responsible use of technology during Christmas through the ‘Naviga en Positivo’ program developed by the Employment and Education area and aimed at Preschool and Primary students.
Specifically, it is recommended that they learn to identify the PEGI (Pan European Game Information) standards, European-wide recommendations that indicate the minimum age (labels), as well as the content that may appear (descriptors) in video games and computer applications.
The Minister of Employment and Education, Efraín Medina, explains in a note that “it is everyone’s job to use technology in a responsible, balanced and positive way.”
In his opinion, “PEGI standards serve to have reliable data about what ages the games are intended for and what their objectives are, it is a very visual tool that helps students understand what video games or applications they can enjoy on their devices.” technological”.
Medina points out that “it is important for students to learn and be aware of the importance of managing good habits in relation to the use of technology, but adults also have their responsibility, establishing minimum usage standards and encouraging the use of pages or games educational”.
The ‘Navega en Positivo’ program is aimed at Preschool and Primary students and through it the positive use of technology is prevented and encouraged.
Thus, the use of the Internet and screens goes beyond learning to use technology and reflects on the relational factor, or what is the same, an R that connects all the acronyms and that allows us to talk about the TRIC: Technologies , Relationship, Information and Communication.
In addition, it includes content on the tools necessary to navigate respect, empathy, affection and intimacy, personal care, private data, self-esteem and school coexistence.
