The popular ones of the tourist city criticize that the government group has applied, once again, its “political roller” to reject an initiative whose main objective was “to make opening a business or starting an activity in Puerto de la Cruz cost zero euros.”
“We have lost a unique opportunity to make the municipality a more attractive place to invest.”
The Popular Party accuses the councilor for the Treasury of “resignation of functions, after having delayed a month and a week the negotiation with respect to said proposal.” In addition, they argue that the replacement amendment presented by the municipal government, just a few hours before the plenary session, “intended to delay the effectiveness of this measure until approximately the second half of the year 2022.”
According to him Popular Municipal Group, this delay was not necessary, “since the application regulations themselves provide for a rapid procedure for the modification of the respective tax ordinance and its subsequent entry into force which, under normal circumstances, could be at the beginning of next year.”
The president of the PP, Ángel Montañés, affirms that the rejection of this proposal means “losing a unique opportunity to turn the municipality into a more attractive place to invest.”
