SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 15. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife has closed the ninth edition of the ‘Neighborhoods for Employment’ program, an initiative that aims to improve the employability of unemployed people on the island and that has served 5,000 people this year, of which More than 4,500 participated in the orientation service.
The event held this Thursday was attended by the Minister of Employment and Education, Efraín Medina, and the project managers and technicians.
The program has a budget of 3.9 million euros and is executed by Cáritas Diocesana de Tenerife, Red Cross, Don Bosco Foundation, General Foundation of the University of La Laguna and Insular Society for the Promotion of People with Disabilities ( Sinpromi) and is coordinated by the Insular Foundation for Training, Employment and Business Development (Fifede), an entity dependent on the Cabildo.
Efraín Medina expressed his satisfaction because “the work has borne fruit”, managing to insert 1,362 people so far this year.
“The program focuses attention on people who have difficulties finding a job and, probably, without the support of the project’s technical staff, it would be more difficult for them to find a job,” he said.
In that sense, Medina also had words of gratitude “for the companies that participate in the project, since without them it would not be possible to develop it.”
In this edition ‘Neighborhoods for Employment Stronger Together’ has achieved 1,362 job placements and has had the collaboration of 1,156 companies and generated 681 job offers.
In that period it has served 4,985 people, of which 4,582 have participated in the guidance service.
In addition, 3,222 participants have developed a personalized insertion itinerary, while 169 received information and advice on entrepreneurship.
Likewise, 4,711 people have completed complementary training thanks to the program, while 521 people completed vocational training.
‘Neighborhoods for Employment’ is aimed at people residing in Tenerife who are unemployed or in better employment (job seekers who are working a maximum of 20 hours per week) interested in participating in their active job search process.
ONE HUNDRED TECHNICIANS AND 27 NODES
Currently, the program has 27 nodes distributed throughout the island and is developed by 101 people who make up the technical teams, according to a note from the Cabildo.
One of the main novelties in this edition has consisted of preparing people who lack formal training so that they can take the Key Competencies tests to Access Professional Certificates, which represents an additional competitive advantage in a selection process. .
Likewise, a program has been launched to address the specific needs and improve the employability of the Gypsy People, as well as a Technical Training School, in which all program entities will participate, to train future employment technicians, taking advantage of the experience and the methodology applied in Barrios por el Empleo
‘Neighborhoods for Employment’ offers support and career guidance services, personalized insertion itineraries, training to improve your professional profile, non-labor internships in companies and job prospecting and intermediation.
In addition, it develops other services aimed at specific groups such as Acércate (aimed at migrants), Duende (aimed at the gypsy population), Saúco (aimed at trans people), Pre-employment Schools (aimed at young people), a specialized service for people in situations of homeless and support for entrepreneurship (aimed at people who have a business idea).
