The Cabildo of Tenerife presents the ‘Solidarity Awards 2023’

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 15. (EUROPA PRESS) –

This Thursday afternoon, the Cabildo of Tenerife presented the ‘Solidarity Awards 2023’, which this year celebrate their twenty-seventh edition, to which a total of 30 candidates have participated.

In total, the jury has awarded 16 honorable mentions and a second prize to Ashotel and all emergency entities, volunteer firefighter associations and civil protection groups for their collaboration in the work of the forest fire that affected Tenerife since last August 15 .

The Minister of Social Action, Águeda Fumero, explained that “with these distinctions, the Cabildo, through the ‘Tenerife Isla Solidaria’ program, aims to recognize the voluntary work that is carried out on the island in all social areas”, to which adds that they want to “make visible, recognize and promote volunteer and solidarity actions, through the 8 honorable mention categories that are included in these awards, for their contribution to society in general, with special attention to the most vulnerable groups.” vulnerable”.

Fumero addressed the award-winning volunteers and assured that “they are the ones who give meaning to the work we carry out through the ‘Tenerife Isla Solidaria’ program, and therefore, personalize the effort, work, passion and love of all the volunteers.” people who, on a daily basis, put the best of themselves through voluntary action”, to which he added that “voluntary action has gained this year, if possible, an even greater relevance and importance through the action and initiative that both individual volunteers, as well as voluntary associations and groups, took on in the last crisis of the fire that occurred on this island at the end of summer.”

The awards seek to highlight the work of volunteer entities from all areas of action, entities that serve migrants, volunteers, women who have led projects of general interest, companies, educational centers, media and public administrations. , entities and organizations that
stand out for their commitment to volunteer entities.

VOLUNTEERING ENTITIES

For their track record as volunteer entities, the jury distinguished the sociocultural association Vida Con Salud, the Hospital Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus-Acamán, while also recognizing the work of entities whose work focuses on caring for migrants. , dedicating a special mention to the Venezuela Solidarity Social Association and the Peruvian Community in Tenerife, COPETEN. In the company category, COFARTE (Cooperativa Farmacéutica de Tenerife) and Femete (Provincial Federation of Metal and New Technologies Companies) were distinguished, while the solidarity actions of the IES Magallanes and CEIP El Monte schools stand out.

The award for the commitment of the public administration, entities or organization went to the municipalities of Los Realejos and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and as for the media, the winners are Rumberos FM and Onda Aguere Radio Geneto, for the program Voluntarízate, from La Laguna Solidaria.

The people honored with the Tenerife 2023 Solidarity Award are Carmen María Lucas Rodríguez (president of ACUFADE), Andrés Orozco Muñoz (president of the AECC in Santa Cruz de Tenerife), Yahaira Thovar (president of ADEPAC) and Alicia Rodríguez Hernández (president of Inclúyeme ).

The jury of the XXVII Tenerife Solidarity Awards 2023 was chaired by the Minister of Social Action, Águeda Fumero, and was composed of the secretary of the Canary Islands Volunteer Entities Platform federation, Carlos Campiña, the president of the Kaua Association, Alejandro Darias, the social worker of Fundación Canaria José Luis Montesinos, Estefanía Hernández, the awarded volunteers in 2022, Juan Enrique Hernández and Sukeina Ndiaye, the director of the Colegio Hispano Inglés, Concepción García, and the general director of the Digital Diary of the University of La Laguna, José Luis Zurita.
