He Tenerife Council has implemented a system of protection and alert in emergencies in Teide, which is intended to improve the operation and response time of emergency services and thus guarantee safety in the National Park.

To this end, a direct connection point has been installed with the Emergency and Security Coordination Center 112 of the Canary Islands, located in the building attached to the upper station of the Teide Cable Car.

With this ‘SOS button’ you can notify in the event of an emergency, so that the necessary resources will be activated immediately.

Likewise, a logistics point has been installed to serve approximately 50 people in the event of an emergency. There is rescue and oxygen therapy equipment, as well as portable stretchers and other elements at the disposal of the Tenerife Fire Department, the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) or the Red Cross.

This measure comes to shorten intervention times in the numerous incidents that occur in the Teide National Park and that require the immediacy of emergency services, as is the case of the two foreign hikers who died on December 1.
