The Santa Cruz City Council, through the Infrastructure area, directed by Councilor Javier Rivero, announced that “the number of operators will increase in the work on La Rosa streetonce the intersection with El Saludo Street has been passed, with the aim of recovering the planned pace of the work and cushioning the delays suffered in recent months in the same after certain unforeseen events were detected that had to be resolved on the fly.” .

“In the section that we are currently undertaking, the sanitation channeling has been incorporated into the work and the executions, at the same time that it has been used to carry out the type of connections to the homes,” added the councilor. Furthermore, he pointed out that, “in the same way, we have proceeded to incorporate the electrical conduits and now we will take care of the rainwater channeling, as well as the supply network.”

This work, which represents an investment of 4,385,000 euros, of which 1.7 million comes from European funds, coexists with the open street and functioning businesses, so it becomes another addition that increases the complexity of the project. same. At this point, it is necessary to remember that the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, in the week prior to the start of this action, assured that “the sidewalks will remain open during all phases, so that its implementation can coexist with commercial activity. and the access of neighbors to their homes.”

For his part, Javier Rivero announced that “we hope to begin repaving in the Horreo area, that is, at the beginning of San Isidro Street after Christmas Eve.” Likewise, he explained that “you will begin to notice how the street will look after this comprehensive remodeling of the area” and once again highlights that, “although we will implement the number of workers, the commitment to not start the next phase until this is over, except for minor details that can be finished without affecting traffic in this area.” Javier Rivero pointed out that “this execution aims to remodel Calle La Rosa, adapting it to a space accessible to all types of users, thereby energizing the commercial areas and the attractiveness of the street.”

Likewise, he stated that “the different phases of these works will allow, once completed, to have an accessible itinerary, adapted for pedestrians and with an evident commercial attraction through the city center, from the Nuestra Señora de África market to the barracks. of Almeyda.”

The Infrastructure Councilor also recalled the existence of an information telephone number (680 203 418) for residents and merchants, with the purpose of maintaining communication with each of the areas where action is being taken.
