This is what a couple spent to have the most Christmassy house in the Canary Islands

Lighting up the house during Christmas is a phenomenon that has gained popularity in many places, becoming a festive tradition that goes beyond simple decoration and in the Canary Islands there are people who take it to a level that is difficult to surpass. This is precisely the case on the island of Tenerife, home to the two most festive residences in the Canary Islands. Lorenzo Barroso, from Valle de Guerra, and Montse, from Acorán, have shared their experiences at the COPE Tenerife microphones, highlighting two of the most exciting projects of the season on the island.

More than 50,000 low-consumption light bulbs illuminate the facades of their homes, adorned with hundreds of handmade Christmas-themed decorations, the result of months of intense dedication. “There are days when the energy falters, but then you remember the excitement of the people when they come with their families to see the lighting,” says Montse. Lorenzo Barroso adds: “The audience is very diverse. Initially, it was the enthusiasm of the children that drove the project, and now people of all ages come.”

Over the years, these houses have become another attraction within the already rich cultural program of festivities on the island. In Lorenzo’s case, the tradition runs in the family, since his father began decorating the house for Christmas in 1995.
