SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 7. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Department of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Employment Service (SCE), has announced the approval of subsidies for a total of 51,061,725 ​​euros destined to local corporations and non-profit entities for the implementation of 150 training projects alternating with employment (PFAEs).

This initiative’s main objective is to promote professional qualification by obtaining professional certificates, as well as hiring some 2,500 people who are currently unemployed and have little training.

The counselor Jéssica de León has highlighted these projects that combine specialized professional training with work experience, giving unemployed people the opportunity to obtain an official qualification along with professional practice. “This synergy contributes significantly to improving the employability of the unemployed population of the Canary Islands,” she added.

Regarding the distribution of the budget for the new PFAE, 22,126,747.50 euros were allocated for Gran Canaria, for a total of 65 projects. For Tenerife, 18,041,809.50 euros were allocated for the execution of 53 projects, while for Fuerteventura 3,404,115.00 euros were allocated for 10 projects. The island of Lanzarote received 5,106,172.50 euros for the implementation of 15 projects and the island of La Palma received 2,382,880.50 euros for the development of 7 projects.

These programs, framed as an active policy of the SCE, are characterized by combining mixed training and hiring actions in order to improve professional qualifications in the workplace.

The most notable specialties include areas such as renewable energy, first aid, social health services, agricultural, forestry and gardening work, tourism, audiovisuals, bar and cafeteria services, masonry, painting, rehabilitation and maintenance of buildings, as well as cleaning and maintenance and revitalization cultural.

The call for these subsidies, financed with funds from the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy for an amount of 35 million euros, has been increased with an additional contribution of 14 million euros from the Comprehensive Employment Plan of the Canary Islands (PIEC). The total amount allocated has provided budgetary coverage for all the requests that met the requirements.

The resolution of the call allocated a total of 41,530,203 euros to the town councils and their public entities, 4,765,761.00 euros to the foundations, 2,723,292.00 euros to the councils, and 2,042,469.00 euros to the associations.
