SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The network of permanent GNSS stations on the island of La Palma shows that both the elevation and the southern deformation recorded at the Los Llanos station (LP03) are reversing, as reported by the National Geographic Institute (IGN).
The deformation of the terrain at the station closest to the cone had shown an increase of up to 10 centimeters, which was not observed in the rest of the network, and which could be motivated by an increase in the accumulation of magmatic material under that station.
This pattern had already occurred on two previous occasions, being followed by an intensification of the observable phenomena in the eruptive centers. In the stations furthest from the eruptive center, a slight regional deflation of deep origin persists.
Regarding seismicity, in the last 24 hours 138 earthquakes have been located in the area affected by the volcanic reactivation of Cumbre Vieja; 21 of these earthquakes have been felt by the population, the maximum intensity being in the epicentral zone IV-V (EMS98) in the earthquake at 7:19 am today with a magnitude of 4.6 mbLg and a depth of 38 km.
Likewise, 25 earthquakes have been located at depths around 30 km and the amplitude of the volcanic tremor signal remains at medium high levels, with intensification pulses.
The column height at 8:45 a.m. reaches 3,400 meters.
