In the Canary Islands you will always find something to do and the December long weekend is no exception.. At the doors of Christmas, The Christmas spirit permeates the vast majority of corners of the Archipelago. So on the December long weekend The options for your free time multiply and Christmas plans are already part of this week’s calendar.

The luckiest among workers and schoolchildren will have at least five days off, from December 6 to 10. Nothing more and nothing less than more than half a week to open the doors to the most anticipated time and with the most holidays of the year.

Almost without realizing it, the month of December will fly by between us nativity scenes, lighting, gift shopping, business lunches and dinners, with friends and family, concerts and endless activities to choose from.

The most popular Christmas representation in Gran Canaria is getting older. The Sand Nativity Scene on Las Canteras beach can be visited from 12:00 p.m. this Tuesday, December 5.

This year, it will have eight scenes and will be a tribute to the canarians who are outside the islands. In this edition, number 18, sculptors from United States, Holland, Canada, Ireland and Canary Islands. And, for the first time, there is three island sculptors working in the sand: the brothers Etual and Bentejuí Ojeda and Aarón Ojeda. If you prefer a nativity scene among volcanoes, Yaiza is the largest and most visited in Lanzarote. In case you prefer Christmas trees to nativity scenes, one of the most original trees in the Canary Islands this year is in Fuerteventura. The Pájara City Council aspires to enter the Guinness Book of Records for making the tallest Christmas tree in the world. The structure is 22 meters high and eight meters in diameter and its coverage has been woven by the people of the Pájara Senior Center, in a symbolic effort for the inclusion and participation of the senior group.

Music in the heart of Vegueta (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) December 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mapfre Canarias Foundation, Patio de Los Naranjos, Bar Association, Plaza de San Agustín and Plaza del Pilar Nuevo.

Previously, at 12:00 p.m. in the Plaza de España and Ramblas de Mesa y López, Christmas Carols with Súbito Koral. In both cases entry is free until capacity is reached.
