
Some 7,000 people took part in the Race for Life this Sunday, December 3, to support cancer research and promote care for people with cancer, by carrying out various activities and providing free objects necessary for patients. . This is the highest participation figure after nineteen editions. And, in addition, a record collection was obtained, which reached 61,330 euros. The walk began in the parking lots of the Siam Mall, in the municipality of Adeje, and concluded on Avenida de Las Américas, on what is known as Arona’s Golden Mile. The mayor of Adeje, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, promised those present to support the project to build the Casa Rosa, a building where the Canary Race for Life Foundation can adequately care for the sick.

Dozens of volunteers mobilized to distribute the different clothing and objects with which attendees contribute financially to help breast cancer patients, so that they have clothing necessary for their daily lives, psychological support actions and to promote research. Animation, music, dance and the meeting between people arriving from various parts of the Island starred in the festive event, in which positivity and optimism are promoted to face the disease in the best possible way. Many of the attendees come as a show of solidarity with a family member, friends or neighbors affected by some oncological pathology, although in other cases they do so as a sign of commitment to the cause. Shortly before the start of the walk, the mayor of Adeje, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, promised that the La Casa Rosa project will become a reality, a facility with sufficient capacity so that the Canarian Race for Life Foundation can carry out all the activities it requires and serve all the people who need your support. This is an initiative of the president of the entity, Brigitte Gypen, after La Sala Rosa, in the coexistence center of the Las Nieves neighborhood, in Adeje, has become too small.
