The Investigative Court acting as guard of the Judicial District of Arona has ordered the imprisonment of a driver who tried to run over a Civil Guard agent during a speed control and who then fled. The detainee has a police record for crimes against Road Safety.
The events occurred when agents of the Civil Guard belonging to the Traffic Group of the Granadilla de Abona Detachment were serving at a speed control check on the TF-27 highway, Km 90,600, when they proceeded to stop the a motorcycle that had previously committed several traffic violations.
Apparently, the driver ignored the instructions of the civil guards and made several illegal overtakes in an area marked with a continuous longitudinal line and raising the front wheel (horse wheel), stopping on an island.
When one of the agents went towards the motorcyclist to proceed with his identification, he left the island, where he was standing, invading the opposite direction and circulating in the direction of the civil guard, accelerating the motorcycle and forcing him to get out of the way. your trajectory to avoid being run over. Despite this, he hit the agent’s left hand with the motorcycle fairing, quickly leaving the scene and performing another wheelie.
The facts were brought to the attention of the Research and Analysis Group of the Canary Islands Traffic Sector (GIAT), which began investigations in the southern area of the island of Tenerife, being able to locate the address of the alleged driver of the motorcycle, so His location and arrest were carried out.
The driver was informed that in accordance with the provisions of articles 550, 380 and 384 of the current Penal Code, he was being arrested for an alleged crime of attack against an agent of the authority in the exercise of his duties and for the alleged crimes against road safety (reckless driving and lack of driving license due to loss of validity of all legally assigned points).
Of the investigated facts, a police report was delivered together with the detainee in the Investigative Court acting as Guard of the judicial district of Arona, with the Judicial Authority ordering his entry into prison.
In accordance with the provisions of articles 550, 380 and 384 of the current Penal Code, the crime of attack against an Agent of the Authority in the exercise of his duties, and the alleged crimes against road safety (reckless driving and lack of driving license due to loss of validity of all legally assigned points) will be punished with prison sentences of six months to two years and deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for a period of more than one and up to six years; prison sentence of three to six months or a fine of twelve to twenty-four months or community service of thirty-one to ninety days, respectively.
