The Diablos Locos institution already has everything prepared for the fourth edition of the Tom Carby Solidarity Tournament and which includes important developments under the organization of the president of the aforementioned society, Masi Carvajal, and endorsing the concern of the murgueros from both shores to unite by Christmas solidarity and Carnival.
This meeting, whose first edition was developed in 2009 under the protection of the now defunct Federation of Murgas of Tenerifehas created over the years and thanks to the care of Masi Carvajal and the Diablos Locos murga, to the point of being a reference since 2019, in the second call, when the football tournament that bears the name of the ‘alma mater’ of the tronicos is resumed and revived in December 2022with the pandemic already forgotten.
Then, murgueros and politicians starred in this hand-in-hand that took place in the Municipal Sports Pavilion of the capital of Tenerife and brought together murgueros and politicians, who left costumes and suits and jackets to measure themselves on the hardwood with sports equipment, with the peculiarity of that the rivalry was forgotten. Seeing them in that hand in hand and teaming up regardless of the name of the murga or the political colors became an added incentive for the public that supports this call at the price of a toy, which is what is raised to be able to access the meeting.. Even two presidents of the Government have participated in this meeting, in the case of Fernando Clavijo and Ángel Víctor Torres. This year, if the duel between murgueros and politicians had continued, perhaps even a minister could have joined, Ángel Ángel Víctor Torres himself.
But Maxi Carvajal, adopting the feelings of the fans, has opted to give a twist of the nut to the format of Tom Carby Tournament, which on this occasion will have two venues: on Saturday, December 23, it will be held in Gran Canaria and the following week, December 30, in Tenerife.
Another novelty. And there is more. The Tom Carby Tournament recovers its murguero accent that motivated its organization and this edition is presented as a hand in hand between the directors of the critical formations of Tenerifeunited in the same team, which will be measured with their counterparts from the critical groups of Gran Canaria.
Under the motto, «A toy, a smile»the objective set by the Diablos Locos society is that no child is left without a present coinciding with these Christmas dates.
And if it will be attractive to see this one hand in hand between murgueros from both shores starring in this solidarity event, a third plus is added to the event thanks precisely to the work carried out under the coordination of Masi Carvajal and the complicity of the directors of the two representative teams, UD Las Palmas, from the First Division, and CD Tenerife, from the second, who have donated the equipment so that the two Murgueros teams can wear the colors of both clubs, which allows, at least for two days, the directors to sign up to play in favor of solidarity and the most disadvantaged children.
Diablos Locos puts the politicians on the bench at least for this edition to team up with the murguero directors; Maybe next year the appointment will be with the media.
