There will be no time for a respite this weekend in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In its 15th edition, Plenilunio Santa Cruz will host more than a hundred activities. Carmen Pérez, CEO of the Development Society, explains that “it is not only about encouraging commerce and restaurants, in addition to the objective of boosting the economy, it is also about offering a powerful leisure and cultural proposal to citizens.” The program also includes sporting and gastronomic events designed for the entire family and will extend to around twenty locations.

Friday December 1

On the day Plenilunio starts, the Casa del Carnaval will open with guided tours from 12:00 p.m. and a crafts workshop at 5:00 p.m., highly recommended activities for boys and girls. Also, the TEA will have children’s workshops, which join the exhibitions of the Fotonoviembre International Biennial and the screening of the German film “Der Fuchs”. If on Friday we want to enjoy the street, from 6:00 p.m. the music will begin in La Candelaria square with Julia Debis, St. Pedro, DJ Cannibal and Mel Ömana and Marlon. The day will be completed with the dance show ‘Corpus Picturae’ at the Museum of Fine Arts, at 7:00 p.m., and the performance of “El Inconveniente”, at 8:30 p.m., at the Guimerá Theater.

Saturday December 2

The markets arrive, highly anticipated and enjoyed by the public. There will be a Christmas one at Casa Siliuto, in Toscal, which will open at 9:00 a.m. From 11:00 a.m. we can enjoy the traditional Christmas market in the Plaza de España and the trendy ‘Le Good Market’, in the García Sanabria. There we can eat, listen to music or entertain the children in the children’s play area. “85 exhibitors will be installed in the park, of which 20 will be of gastronomy, very varied, from dogs and gourmet hamburgers to Cuban, Peruvian or Argentine food,” says Carmen Pérez. This event will also include craft beers, specialty coffees and Cuban mojitos and everything will be decorated with a great Christmas atmosphere.

Other notable options for the little ones will be the children’s play center in the Alameda del Duque de Santa Elena and the “Chicharrock Festival” on Anaga Avenue. “Leisure for children and young people is always a good idea and becomes an attraction for families. Plenilunio Santa Cruz has an extensive program that we must take advantage of since those families that enjoy the activities, then buy in our business and consume in our restaurants,” explains Ruth Dorta, manager of the Zona Centro Commercial Association. On Saturday, the Capitanía Palace will be open, in Plaza Weyler, with a photographic exhibition and visits to its central patio, as well as the Almeyda Military Museum, which will even offer recreations starting at 1:00 p.m., as will the Museum of Nature and Archeology (MUNA), which from 10:00 a.m. will offer guided tours that bring you closer to the Guanche funerary world. Another option is the Nuestra Señora de África Market, which increases its gastronomic offer for the occasion and, starting at 7:00 p.m., will feature various performances.

Another of the highlights of Saturday at Plenilunio will come with the performances in the Plaza del Príncipe, with “En state of show” by Yaneli Hernández, then Abubukaka and finally, Agustín Jiménez. Nearby, in the Plaza de La Candelaria and at 6:30 p.m. the music will be provided by the Picoco’s Band. Behind them Cristina Ramos and then, estimated at 9:45 p.m., Pitingo. From 8:00 p.m. until midnight, the esplanade of the maritime avenue will host a cockfight and performances by Kharma, Soat and La Pantera.

Sunday December 3

The pace will be just as frenetic. Almost all spaces, museums, theaters and markets will continue their activities. In addition, at 12:00 there will be a concert by Morimoto Sister at the Guimerá Theater, and a tango show by Andrés Leoni – at the same time – in the neighboring Plaza de la Isla de la Madera. Also at noon in the Plaza de La Candelaria, performances by Mandrágora Coro, and in the afternoon, the University Choir and Gospel Shine Voices.

“Doubloons for eternity” in the San Rafael and San Roque cemetery

This is the title of one of the new events of this Full Moon. It will be held Saturday and Sunday in a place declared a Site of Cultural Interest, the San Rafael and San Roque cemetery. Located near the Nuestra Señora de África Market, it will host dramatized routes to learn about the history of the cemetery with the help of the Burka Teatro company and the historian Néstor Verona. It will be a comedy starring the family of the 16th century conqueror Hernández del Hoyo who will teach us what the epidemics were like that forced the construction of the cemetery, which has an area for Protestants, and where some of the city’s historical personalities such as Imeldo Serís rest. or Ireneo González. The routes will be on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. They will be free, have a maximum capacity of 100 people, and access will be in order of arrival, without prior registration.
