The ‘Puente del Pilar’ triggered hotel reservations and recorded 40% more spending than in 2019, which has meant “an injection of energy and good feelings for tourism in general”, according to Quehoteles.com, an online travel agency. Gran canaria and Tenerife were placed in the ‘Top 10’ of tourist destinations in Spain during the long weekend of the October 12 holiday.

That weekend of the bridge, 215% more was sold than in the rest of the weekends of the month and hotels were the main accommodation preference, with 82% of the reservations, assuming the rest of types of accommodation, apartments, aparthotels or hostels, 18% of the sale.

By destinations, Tarragona, Algarve, Gran canaria, Costa del Sol, Tenerife, Madrid, Almería, Huelva, Cádiz and Benidorm completed the ‘top 10’.

Thus, the Canary Islands and Andalusia had a great weight in terms of volume of reserves, representing 13% and 23% of total reserves, respectively.

High forecasts for the bridges of November and December

The forecast for bridges of November and December is billing 20% more than in 2019, since to date Quehoteles.com has reached 75% of the sale of two years ago.

Taking into account the short notice with which customers are booking, the sales forecast is to exceed the data obtained before the pandemic by 20%.

Average spending on hotel reservations shoots up 40%, above spending for the same dates in 2019.

By destinations, the top 10 of Quehoteles for the next bridge in November is very similar to the previous one, although with the presence of the Balearic Islands: Algarve, Costa del Sol, Tarragona, Gran Canaria, Benidorm, Madrid, Cádiz, Barcelona, Mallorca and Tenerife.
