TACORONTE PATRON CELEBRATIONS | The election of Prince and Knight opens the patron saint festivities for the first time

Tacoronte begins this Saturday the patron saint festivities in honor of Saint Catherine of Alexandria. The most anticipated event will take place starting at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, with the first election gala of the Prince and Knight, titles to which four children and six young people from the municipality aspire.

The jury will prioritize, in addition to the physical section, the learning of aspects related to modeling and the catwalk that the participants acquire, the attitude shown during the coexistence developed in the previous days with the rehearsals and the social and self-improvement skills they show. The objective of the gala is to demonstrate a clear commitment to equality of opportunities between women and men, says the local government.

The mayor, Sandra Izquierdo, accompanied by the Festival Councilor, Noemí García; the parish priest Elisuán Delgado; the author of the advertising poster, the photographer Beatriz Castillo; and the director of the first election gala for the titles of Prince and Knight 2023, David Hernández, yesterday presented the program of the patron saint festivities, which will last until Sunday of next week.

The programming will begin this Saturday, with the inauguration of the exhibition Santa Catalina throughout history, by Enrique Acosta, and the XXI Meeting of Young Soloists and Parranda Chedey. The range of events for the next few days includes several tastings of the city’s gastronomic products, Sevillana workshops, Zumba and gymnastics for seniors and the I Bolero Festival, with the participation of Luis Deseda and the Trío Anaga.

The comedian Kike Pérez will take the stage in Plaza de Santa Catalina on Friday, the 24th, at 8:00 p.m. Next will be the La Sabrosa orchestra, DJ Marcos and Renzzo El Selector. For the festive day on Saturday, the 25th, the I Crafts Fair is planned as well as the Ethnic show by Benito Cabrera and José Manuel García Ramos, among other activities and meetings for all audiences. The program of events will end on Sunday, the 26th, with a descent of wooden cars, a concentration of classic cars and a culinary demonstration of Canarian cuisine, with a subsequent lunch for the public present. The band, choir and pulse and plectrum orchestra of the Santa Cecilia Musical Group will offer a special concert starting at 1:00 p.m., followed by the I Santa Catalina de Alejandría Domino Tournament, already in the afternoon.

The mayor of Tacoronte thanked the Tacoronte citizens for their involvement, highlighted the security plan designed for all the festivities, highlighted that the stage will be covered to avoid the eventual suspension of any performance and the provision of heating equipment.

Among the religious events, the 11:00 a.m. mass on Saturday, the 25th, stands out before the procession along the usual route.
