SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Today, Friday, the Cabildo of Tenerife hosted the presentation of a new edition of the Most Woman Awards of the Association of Women Business Owners and Professional Managers (BPW Canarias), which awarded the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, with a diploma, in recognition to its “firm commitment to promoting gender equality.”

The presentation was attended by the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila; the mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez; the president of the Association of Business and Professional Women, BPW Canarias, Antonia Varela; the Deputy for Equality of the Provincial Council of the Canary Islands, Beatriz Barrera; and the promoter of the Awards and president of the Más Mujer Canarias Association, Rita Calero.

“I have been very moved by this recognition. The fantastic thing about these awards is that women who remained anonymous in their work came to light and surprised us all by having incredible personal stories of improvement and effort. Therefore, I find it very It is important that in Tenerife and the Canary Islands we have these forums in which women come together from the diversity of professions and occupations, each one with its peculiarity, each one with its contribution to the common good,” said Rosa Dávila.

For her part, the president of the Más Mujer Canarias Association, Rita Calero, thanked the island president for her example and public defense of equality: “She is the first woman to govern the Cabildo in its 110 years of history and also a leading woman. as for the fact of having been the first woman to occupy the General Directorate of Transport or having been the first woman to head the Ministry of Finance of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Canary Islands Institute of Equality”.

The Deputy for Equality of the Provincial Council of the Canary Islands, Beatriz Barrera, showed her support for the work of the Association “to make visible those women who contribute to the development of society, but cannot be heard.” Furthermore, the mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, thanked that the Association has once again chosen the Guimerá Theater for the awards ceremony: “These awards are necessary to make talent visible. I am a feminist mayor because “You can’t be a democrat and not be a feminist.”

Finally, the president of the Association of Business and Professional Women, Antonia Varela, recalled that the objective of the entity is to “work to enhance, make visible and promote female talent and encourage women to be part of management bodies.” and decision and, of course, contribute with concrete actions to achieve an inclusive, egalitarian, accessible, sustainable and supportive society”.

The deadline to submit nominations for the fifth edition of the Más Mujer-BPW Awards ends on December 31 and the jury’s decision will be on January 10, 2024. For this occasion, eight categories have been defined in which awards will be given. the work of women in the fields of Businesswomen, Science and Innovation, Art and Culture, Tourism, Sports, Solidarity, Communication and the Primary Sector.
