SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez, met this Thursday with a delegation of representatives of municipalities in Sardinia that participate in the ‘Islands of the Sea’ project whose objective is to build cultural bridges between the European islands of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic and decided for opening new lines of collaboration with Sardinia and other European and Macaronesian islands.
The Deputy of the Common, Rafael Yanes, accompanied these representatives of the Italian institutions on their visit to the Chamber, whose objective is to promote twinning and new networks of cities belonging to the Canary Islands and Sardinia.
Astrid Pérez highlighted the importance of “knowing the realities of other European islands that, like Sardinia, are also part of the Conference of Regional Legislative Assemblies of Europe (Calre) and share with this archipelago a powerful tourism industry, which gives us the opportunity to build bridges and establish new collaboration networks to share experiences and projects in the future.
The president of Eurinsula and Founder and Manager of the ‘Sea Islands Project’, Isabel Vera Santiago, was accompanied by local authorities from Sardinia such as Flavio Cabitza, vice mayor of Perdasdefogu, which is the town in the world with the highest concentration of people over 100 years according to its population; Giovanni Porcheddu, mayor of Siligo; Pierpaolo Mulas, mayor of Torralba; Francesco Dui, mayor of Ardara; Maria Gabriella Agate, Councilor for Culture of Ortelli, and Sarah Golme, collaborator of the municipality of Perdasdefogu, collect a note from the Regional Chamber.
