Chicharrero by birth, the entire childhood of the fashion photographer and producer Edgar Magdalena Mendez43 years old, takes place in La Gomera “where I come from, although I moved to Tenerife at a very young age to pursue higher education and it is the island where I have lived since then.”
Magdalena explains that she chooses “the Diego Hernández beach, in Costa Adeje, because it is one of the most beautiful in Tenerife and contains almost virgin inhospitable and wild corners that deserve to be visited and explored. Its crystal-clear waters,” he highlights, “invite you to swim and the temperature of the sea allows you to swim until the sun goes down,” admits the director of Tenerife Fashion Beach Costa Adejeone of the most important fashion events on the Islands.
“My career has been hectic since I won the VI Tenerife Moda Photography Contest, precisely the one dedicated to fashion and the sea. Professionally and at a photographic level I have worked with the most important fashion brands in the Canary Islands, directed the magazine Tenerife Fashion for some time “and I feel particularly lucky to bring the image of the Canary Islands to the catalogs of international designers like João Rôlo,” he says.
In production he has worked coordinating projects of all typeso: Arona Fashion Week, Tenerife Volcanic Fashion, La Laguna Fashion Loversin the production of the Amato show or, more recently, Paloma Suárez’s Off show at Madrid Fashion Week or La Palma Fashion Week.
However, he says that seeing the birth Tenerife Fashion Beach Costa Adeje and its development from scratch “is one of the projects I am most proud of because it has not stopped growing.” “I have been working for about 15 years and I put passion in everything I do, that’s why I like it and it is essential to keep my feet on the ground and be humble.”
WHAT TO SEE
“I recommend sitting and watching the sunset with La Gomera on the horizon, it is magical. There is a small cove that is very close to the beach, where no one goes, where at certain times of the year you can swim between large rocks.”
WHEN
“For me, the calms of September are always the best time but I have to say that winter in this area is very mild; “I never miss an opportunity to escape until December,” says Edgar Magdalena about Diego Hernández beach.
WHAT TO EAT
“I recommend a good roast octopus with wrinkled potatoes anywhere near the sea accompanied by a fruity wine from Tenerife, although more than once I have changed it for the famous Adeje chicken, which is a temptation.”
