TENERIFE ARONA TOURISM | Arona will revalidate its values as a consolidated sun, beach and leisure destination at the WTM in London

Arona will attend the World Travel Market 2023 which will be held in London between November 6 and 8 with the goal of reaffirming the important weight that British tourism has for this Tenerife municipality that, year after year, breaks records for the influx of tourists from that origin. Arona will attend the World Travel Market under the umbrella of Promotur Turismo de Canary Islandsbringing the mayor and the Tourism Councilor of Arona as political ambassadors, Fatima Lemes and Dácil Lionrespectively.

According to the National Institute of Statistics (INE), Between January and August 2023, 570,529 British tourists visited Arona, 59,615 more than in the same period in 2022. Based on this measurement of tourism based on the position of mobile phones, in July and August of this year 162,877 people from the United Kingdom visited Arona compared to the 156,314 who did so in the same period of 2022 and 137,666 in 2019. Taking those summer months as a reference, the data shows that in 2022 this Tenerife municipality received 6,563 more British people than before the pandemic and that in 2023 the ratio of visitors from that origin has continued to grow, with 25,211 more tourists than in the same pre-pandemic months of 2019.

Therefore, during the meetings and contacts planned during the London fair with representatives of the main tour operators, agents and professionals of the English-speaking tourism sectorArona will focus on the strengths that British tourism values most when choosing its holiday destination: sun, beach, leisure, security and quality accommodation.

The mayor of Arona, Fátima Lemes, has highlighted that the best campaign that can be done to continue strengthening and building loyalty among British tourism is to continue working for the quality of the Arona destination, betting especially on the constant improvement of public services such as those of cleaning and gardens, to further increase security levels, as well as the beautification of public spaces.

Dácil León has highlighted that, although there is a certain fashion in stigmatizing sun and beach tourism, we must not forget that British tourism is the one that has the most weight in the municipality and what has made Arona a world tourist reference, mainly, for our privileged warm climate and guaranteed days of sun, as well as for the wonderful beaches, the safety of this destination and its wide range of leisure activities. The municipal head of Tourism has also stated that “we must continue to advance in terms of accessibility and sustainability, among other strengths of the municipality that we already have, which are highly appreciated by those who visit us, which are worth continuing to promote and which we can neglect.”

As a complement to the value of Arona as a sun, beach and leisure destination, the promotion of the municipality at this fair will impact its valuable landscapes, its commitment to sustainability, its wide range of facilities, activities and sporting events, its varied gastronomy and its extensive lineup of events and shows. Along these lines, and under the slogan “Arona has it all”, its wide range of maritime activities will also be disseminated, including whale watching, its hiking routes and nature activities, in addition to its cultural and heritage values, with events like Arona’s in Tradiciones. At the same time, emphasis will be placed on consolidated values such as personalized attention at destination, advantages such as being the port connection point between Tenerife and the islands of La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma and in projects such as Arona Smart Destination, in line with the commitment to innovation and information and knowledge technologies.
