Viera: ‘KO’ for a fracture

The physical mishap causes him to lose, in the best of cases, a total of eight League matches against: Alcorcón (tomorrow at Gran Canaria), Real Sociedad B (Friday, October 29), Fuenlabrada (November 3), Oviedo (November 6), Zaragoza (14), Málaga (21), Leganés (28) and Sporting de Gijón (December 5). Other club sources do not rule out the option of two months off and that he returns to Tenerife at the Heliodoro on January 2, 2022.

The medical team of the yellow entity, led by Gerardo Garcés, assesses in the coming days if the ’21’ should go through the operating room -a way that does not shorten the period of absence-. Viera suffered a stomp against CD Tenerife in Siete Palmas -Saturday, October 16- and was already presenting discomfort in the foot area. On Sunday there was a rest day and on Monday the session was regenerative for the headlines.

On Tuesday he flew with the rest of the expedition to Lugo. During the warm-up at the Anxo Carro -Wednesday-, the ’21’ went to the locker room and left this preparatory phase fifteen minutes before the rest. It infiltrates for painless play. He lasted five minutes in the green and was replaced by Óscar Clemente. In that quarter of an hour and what causes me to demand the change, is a tear in the right ischium -back of the thigh-. The muscular mishap leaves him ‘KO’ and he leaves the field.

The campus returned on Thursday afternoon and yesterday is when it was examined with radiological tests. Six days after the classic against CD Tenerife and 48 hours after Lugo-UD, is when the fifth toe of the genius of La Feria’s left foot is examined. The period of sick leave due to muscle breakage is about three weeks, but it is the fracture that forms a uranium torpedo to the heart of the DU. Could it have been prevented? Was it a series of fatalities?

Pain, prick and radiology

From the environment of ’21’, they confirm that the playmaker “is dejected.” After adding three consecutive goals -against Cartagena, Almería and Tenerife-, his progression is now slowed. The genius of La Feria was at “60%” of his level of form. Against Ibiza, he began his fourth tour – September 11 – and already had 506 minutes of play.

He did not do preseason and came from Beijing – the club with which he played his last game in May – after overcoming a knee injury.

Gerardo Garcés energetically rules out that Viera traveled with a broken finger to Lugo. «He does not get on the plane if he has a broken bone, reason can be applied and the stomp he received against Tenerife is one more action in the game. We have hundreds of episodes like that every week. He was examined and any type of complication was ruled out », he determines.

For the orthopedic surgeon, with more than three decades of professional work, the fact of infiltrating does not imply that one is closer to causing a fracture. “Infiltration is to reduce pain, it is something very common. It is not the decision of the footballer, the medical team is consulted ». Regarding the fact of not examining Viera before flying to Lugo, after the incident in the derby, he insists that there were no parameters or indications to justify it. “He was fit.”

To Viera’s setback, we must add Peñaranda’s muscle injury -fibrillar rupture of the left biceps femoris-. The deadline for the Venezuelan attacker is another six weeks. In addition, we must add the situation of Sergio Ruiz, who is already in the final stretch of his recovery – he has 14 days left.

The UD without Viera seems like a drama but it is time to resurface urgently tomorrow against bottom row AD Alcorcón at the Gran Canaria stadium (8:00 pm, Movistar LaLiga). The starting eleven will jump with a support shirt for their captain, which was presented on August 27 before the fans -in the previous match against SD Huesca-. The diabolical doom of destiny. Viera’s winning momentum ended in a nightmare. “He will come back stronger than ever”, they affect the club.
