Last week the meeting took place to communicate to the groups the conditions of the return to rehearsals.

The uncertainty surrounding the celebration of Carnival of Santa Cruz in 2022 it has not prevented most of the groups that participate in the chicharerra festival each year from taking the step to be prescribed, as required by the Fiestas. Yesterday closed the deadline given to the different formations to express their intention to participate next year, also identifying a COVID person in charge, who will receive a training talk next Monday to apply the rules that the Ministry of Health has implemented . The list closed with 95 groups, but with the sounded absence of two of the most recognized formations: the murga the Triquikonas and the comparsa the Joroperos.

The figure is slightly lower than that of the participants in 2020, when around a hundred groups were part of the Chicharrero Carnival.

As reported by Fiestas, once the records have been reviewed, the groups will begin to be informed of the protocols that they must follow and accept, agreed with the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, to begin the tests in the premises and subsequent official registration in Carnival 2022 contests. This last step could lead to a drop in the number of 95 participants, given that many groups are still not sure if they will be able to participate in the best conditions given the current health situation.

The list of pre-registered groups is made up of 21 child murgas, 22 adult murgas, nine comparsas, plus one child, 15 choreographic groups, nine musical groups, a lyrical musical group, eight from La Canción de la Risa and seven rondallas.

The 21 pre-registered children’s costumes are Pita-Pitos, Frykiwykis, Los Chinchositos, Los Mamelones, Tiralengüines, Raviscuditos, Los Rebeldes, Infantilmónica Triqui Traquitos, Distracidos, Guachipanduzy, Lenguas Largas, Los Castorcitos, Minivirgues, Los Revoltosos, Los Carricitos, El Carrciditos Cabito, Los Disorsionados, Los Suocados, Infantilmónica Redoblones and Los Rewobinados.

The adult costumed are Ni Pico Ni Corto, Los Bambones, Los Diablos Locos, MásQLocas, Los Mamelucos, Los Trabachones, Diabolicas, Ni Fú NI Fá, Los Desbocados, Burlonas, La Sonora, Las Marchilongas, Unleashed, Los Chinchosos, Los Tiralenguas, After with Tras, Las Klandestinas, La Traviata, Los Arremangados, Los Trapaseros, Afilarmónica Triqui Traques, Neither Many nor Few and Los Zeta Zetas.

The groups that will put rhythm and color in the Carnival are Los Cariocas, Los Tabajaras, Los Rumberos, Abenaura, Bahía Bahitiare, Río Orinoco, Tropicana, Los Valleiros and Danzarines Canarios. In addition to the Comparsa Tropicana Infantil.

The number of pre-registered rondallas is eight, with the Lyrical Group La Rondalla Sociedad Mamel’s, Nueva Echeyde (formerly Gran Tinerfe), Lírico Coral Los Aceviños, Masa Coral Tinerfeña, Las Valkirias, UA El Cabo, Peña del Monday 1965 and Orfeón La Paz.

For their part, the musical groups are Salsabor, Cantares Luz de Luna, Sabor Isleño, Caña Dulce, Siboney, Teiderife, Nobleza Canaria, Chaxiraxi and Los Yuppies.

The choreographic groups go through Club Odali, Ballet Dance, Crew of Dreams, Ibaute, Tenerife Dance Project, Moana, Crazy Dancer, Equipo Loli Pérez, Funkyguachi, LKS, Los Bohemios, Grupo Choreografico del Patronato del Ayuntamiento de Arona, Yufunk Dance School, Azahar and Stars Dance.

Likewise, the groups of La Canción de la Risa are Las Gediondas, I don’t have the chichi pa ‘lanterns, The Monster Family, Carnival scraps, Cartoons go on fire, Los Cornucas Atómico, Los Legías and Las Noveleras. They complete the pre-registered groups in the next edition of the party, Los Fregolinos.

The mayor of Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, wanted to highlight “the high number of pre-registered and the groups’ commitment to Carnival, a fact that confirms the work we are doing to keep the essence of our most international festival intact.”
