Hidramar Gran Canaria aspires to win its second Super Cup at the home of its eternal rival

The day of the dead hosts the long-awaited final of the Spanish Super Cup (6:00 p.m.)a special day on the calendar for a CV Hydramar Gran Canaria wants to put an end to the bad streak that began against the Laguneras in their recent Canarian league derby and that continued the last day with a second consecutive defeat against CV Kiele Socuéllamos.

He Santiago Martín Paviliondecked out for the occasion and with the intention of Tenerife Libby’s La Laguna to have the support of 3,000 fans in its stands, should serve as an incentive for a team accustomed to showing off its stripes as current champion of the Iberdrola League .

The recent arrival to the Island of Beatriz Novoarecently crowned top scorer in the Pan American Games, defending as captain the colors of the host, Chile, and that of the Cuban central team Laura Suarezhas given the group an extra positive energy that should serve Fran Carballo’s team to fight in hostile territory and aspire to win what would be the second Super Cup in its history.

The great Gran Canarian boxer usually says Samuel Carmona that “boxers when they are happy is when they are most dangerous” and precisely the smiles have returned to the faces of the Olympic players in the last training sessions. Winning a title and making history again, in a match with no points at stake, in which only winning is worth it, must become a turning point to recover the best level of the current league champion.

In front will be a Tenerife Libby’s La Laguna in full growth, which little by little is adapting to the designs of its coach, Miguel Rivera, who has at his disposal one of the best squads in the Iberdrola League, with destabilizing players such as Dayana Segovia, Bely Nsungumina or Lisbet Arredondo. The Tenerife team will be supported on this occasion by its fans in an atypical setting, but one in which the Tenerife team already played a match in the last season. Champions League.

Fran Carballo: “Winning the Super Cup could be the turning point we need”

The coach of CV Hidramar Gran Canaria, Fran Carballo, stated on the eve of the clash against Haris in the Super Cup final that “I always try to look for the positive side of things and on Saturday when the match ended, even though in At first I thought that having the Super Cup match was going to be a problem, in the end I realized that this match is the best thing that could happen to us, because if we have a good match and win, it could be that turning point that make everything change.”

The new tenant of the Olympic bench is happy with the performance of the players in training and is convinced that “we are going to go there much better than on Saturday, although there was a small change in the group, a little more intensity, with things to correct and in this sense I think that the Super Cup is going to be very good for us.”

Carballo valued the incorporation of Bea Novoa and Laura Suárez. “For us it is a brutal oxygen ball, because Laura in the block implies a lot, she is one of the best attackers by percentage in the league and she is going to help us a lot and Bea, is a player who comes from being the top scorer in the Pan American and they will allow us to have a replacement of guarantees for any position.

After a week of working with the players, he admits that he has seen “a change.” “After Monday’s training session, which was really bad, over the rest of the days, I have noticed a change not only in their attitude, but also in their faces. I already see them smiling, enjoying themselves, and in the long run I think it will be very good for us.”

Regarding the rival, he affirms that Miguel Rivera “is a coach who prepares the games very well tactically and is surely going to pose complications for us and we must be attentive to see what he poses and be able to counteract it.” “The match is going to be very complicated and either of the two will be able to win the Super Cup,” he admits.

The change of scenery by having to play the match at the Santiago Martín does not believe that it will affect any of the teams: “It is a large arena like this, we are used to it and they have enough experience to play well in any scenario , although it is true that it is being said that they want to fill it with people and in that sense I think that it will be better for ours if there are more people and more atmosphere for them to be motivated.”

What will not be lacking in his opinion is motivation, because “not only is there a title at stake, but it is also against Haris, there is always that healthy mix between Tenerife and Las Palmas, which is something that always motivates.”

Saray Manzano: “We are going to Tenerife to play as we know and deserve”

For the captain of CV Hidramar Gran Canaria, Saray Manzano, who returned on the last day to stand out among the top of the day despite the defeat against Kiele, she does not consider that the team is not in a good emotional moment, but rather that “The league has become very equal and we need a little push, which is what we are looking for in every training session.” “We are going to get this and, as everyone knows, we win the Queen’s Cup in January and in May the playoffs for the league title,” highlights the Gran Canarian, who takes the opportunity to issue a warning to sailors: “I’m glad for the people who celebrate the victories they are achieving at this point in the season, but I think we have to keep our feet on the ground and know that titles are won when they have to, and I also have full confidence in my team,” he concluded.

As for the rival, Haris, Manzano considers that both teams have “a similar level, all the players we have are good, but we were a little missing Laura’s game in the net, which is at a very high level” . The Gran Canarian expects “a great game in which both teams are going to give their best, because it is still a final for a title, we are both going to go and win it, they are playing at home, but we do have a good time as a team, I’m sure we won that game.

Manzano values the return of Laura Suárez and the incorporation of Bea Novoa very positively, “they are welcome, we need them, because in the end it is a support for both Sulián and me that Bea has arrived, it will be good for us, the team will grow.” team level and it is the moment in which we have to all move forward.

Regarding the reception of Fran Carballo as Marcos Dreyer’s replacement, the captain remembers that “I have known him since he was 14 years old and he came to help us in training, last year he was our second coach and I am very happy, I really like his work, Just like Marcos Dreyer had his way of working, we are not going to compare because comparisons are hateful, but for my part I am very happy, he is very eager, very excited and it is an opportunity for him.”

Manzano downplays the change of scenery for the final. “I like to play anywhere and I imagine the others do too, this is about bringing out everything we each have from within and going for it.”

For the Gran Canarian, more than a forecast “we have to play as we know and deserve, go out and enjoy and by doing those little things, we can win.”
